Our Foster, Adoptive and Kinship Families Wish Yours a Very Happy Holiday Season!

The Board and staff of Formed Families Forward send greetings of the season to all our wonderful family, youth and professional friends and partners!

As foster, adoptive and kinship families ourselves, we recognize the many joys of parenting children, youth and young adults with unique needs are sometimes accompanied by challenges. We are honored to work with families and colleagues all year long to help navigate and secure appropriate services. Thank you for allowing us to share in your journey.

Thank you also to those who came out and joined Formed Families Forward for our Winter Holiday Open House on December 7. Food, fun and festivities were shared by all. Santa and Mrs. Claus rounded out the evening with a visit, story, song and meet-and-greet time!

An extra special thank you to Bri Diederichsen, our fall intern from GMU and the group of volunteers from GMU's Human Development & Family Science Student Organization who assisted with crafts and activities.

Middle school students are invited to join another session of Life Skills Training, provided by Formed Families Forward, at the Sherwood Community Center in Fairfax City. Come meet other kids, practice some key skills, and enjoy pizza and snacks. Every Thursday evening, January 9 to February 13, 5:30 - 7 PM. Learn more HERE and REGISTER HERE.

Our Stronger Together peer support groups continue, twice a month on Tuesday evenings. Two groups, facilitated by our awesome therapists and psychologists, offer both parents/ caregivers and youth/young adults a safe place to share, and give and get support from others who 'walk the walk'.  Parents: note you don't have to have a child attending the youth group to attend!
Registration is ongoing.  Learn More HERE.

Finally, mark your calendars now for two webinars by experts in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). If you raise or work with children or youth impacted by prenatal exposure to alcohol you will not want to miss these learning opportunities.
On January 16, learn Evidence-Based Interventions for Children with FASD from Dr. Molly Millians of Emory University.

On February 11, learn about FASD From A Trauma Lens, with FFF favorite NACAC's Barb Clark.

End of Year Giving? Think of Us!

In the past year, Formed Families Forward provided over 25 trainings and events for families and professionals, reaching more than 700 individuals. Almost all our events, resources and individual consultations are offered free of charge. We are able to continue offering these critical services to our 'extra special' families, in part through generous donations. Consider a contribution to Formed Families Forward- DONATE HERE.

Doing your Amazon shopping through our Amazon Smile link is one more way you can support our work too, all year long!

Thank you.
